Vegan Chocolate Orange Scones 🍫🍊

First attempt at a Vegan Chocolate Orange Scone and nailed it πŸ’ͺ Simple to make and gorgeous with a good oul' dollop of whipped coconut cream. A swish from way downtown. Toooo easy πŸ€

For the Scones
  • 375g of Self Raising Flour
  • 1/2 tsp of fine salt
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 110g of Vegan Butter (I use Natural Vegan block)
  • 4 tbsps of fine caster sugar
  • 180ml of Soy Milk
  • 1 tsp of Valencian Orange Extract
  • 1 tbsp of fresh lemon juice
  • Dairyfree Chocolate Chips
For the Coconut Cream
  • 1 tin of full fat Coconut Cream (Refrigerated overnight
  • 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsps of icing sugar


How to cook Vegan Chocolate Orange Scones 🍫🍊

For the Scones
  1. Preheat the oven to 230C
  2. Sift the flour into a mixing bowl. Add salt and baking powder.
  3. Add the vegan butter (softened) and rub into the mix with fingers until crumbly.
  4. Add the caster sugar.
  5. Add the Soy milk, orange extract and lemon juice.
  6. Mix well with spoon.
  7. Fold in Choc Chips.
  8. Roll with hands on a floured surface (add more flour if needed)
  9. Flatten out until approx 1inch thick and cut into 8 scones with cutter.
  10. Place on parchment paper on tray.
  11. Brush lightly with Soy milk to prevent browning.
  12. Bake for 15-20mins until golden. 
  13. Enjoy with a dollop of cream and jam. 
  14. SAVAGE 🐺 
For the Coconut Cream
  1. Take pre-refrigerated can from fridge
  2. Use Creamed milk and a small a mount of liquid. 
  3. Add to bowl with vanilla essence and icing sugar and whisk until ready.
  4. Keep in fridge for up to 3 days.
